Dug Song

Dug Song is co-founder and former chairman & CEO of Duo Security, Michigan’s first tech unicorn and multibillion venture-backed acquisition. As a founder and funder, Dug is a champion for growing community wealth — economic, social, cultural, and environmental — to build a more just and inclusive future for all.

Dug is heavily involved in the global startup community and fostering entrepreneurship in Michigan as an active investor, advisor, and board member. He is co-founder/chair of the Michigan Founders Fund, helping entrepreneurs turn business success into positive community impact, and serves on the boards of the Detroit Regional Chamber and the US Department of Commerce’s National Advisory Council for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, with a focus on racial justice and economic equity.

In 2020, Dug and his wife started the Song Foundation to invest in the innovative people and organizations improving the quality of life for all in Southeast Michigan. Song also serves on the executive board of the Wallace House Center for Journalists, and on the national advisory board for Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Michigan.

Linh Song

Linh Song has worked in the nonprofit sector for over 20 years, supporting child advocacy, public schools, anti-trafficking and international adoption, and tech startups. Linh and her husband Dug founded The Song Foundation to invest in the innovative people and organizations who are improving the quality of life for all in Southeast Michigan and helping to build a more just and equitable world. As the firstborn American in her family, Linh has the experience of coming from a refugee family and is committed to addressing social, racial, and economic inequities.

Linh holds two degrees from the University of Michigan, including a Master of Social Work. She serves as co-chair for Michigan Reproductive Rights for All and is a board member for Jewish Family Services Ann Arbor, Michigan Municipal League Foundation, and the Song Foundation. Linh was previously on Ann Arbor’s City Council.

Khalilah Burt Gaston

Khalilah Burt Gaston is an executive director, advisor, and founder with over 15 years of experience in leading and supporting high-profile initiatives across Southeast Michigan. She is a certified economic development professional and an expert in philanthropy, real estate development and cross-sector partnerships. 

As the founding executive director of the Song Foundation, she oversees its efforts to invest in ideas, people, and organizations that amplify equity, power, prosperity, and joy in the region. She also serves as an advisor to Song United, the family office of the foundation's founders. In addition, she runs her own consulting practice, Glidepath Strategies, where she helps mission-driven organizations align their aspirations and strategies for impact. She has been instrumental in the success of projects totaling nearly $1 billion, including the design and launch of Hope Starts Here, Detroit's first comprehensive framework to support young children and their families.

Kelly Kang

Kelly Kang spearheads priorities for Song United, the family office of Dug and Linh Song, as the Director of Strategic Initiatives across policy, tech and innovation, and cultural bodies of work. 

She has spent the past decade in high growth tech startups in various capacities, including roles at Floyd, YC-backed Castle, and On Deck. Kang also ran Techstars Mobility/Detroit and has consulted for various Detroit-based organizations such as Samvid Ventures, Civilla, and BasBlue. She is a proud Venture for America and Columbia University alumna and after growing up in Los Angeles, Seoul, and New York City, is proud to call Detroit home.

Clodagh Earls

Clodagh Earls brings over a decade of experience in office management, project coordination, strategic planning, executive support, and organizational culture development to her role as Chief of Staff at Song United.

 

Prior to joining Song United, Clodagh was the Chief Administrative Officer of Lodestar Consulting and Executive Coaching, LLC a professional development company that specializes in trauma responsive facilitation, training, and coaching designed specifically to meet the unique challenges for executive leadership and management teams in healthcare, government, military, and law offices. Her journey prior to joining Lodestar includes a significant tenure at the William Davidson Foundation, where she played a key role in the organization’s operations. During her tenure at the William Davidson Foundation, Clodagh initially served as the Executive Assistant to the President and Board of Directors and assumed the role of Office Manager from 2018 to 2023, where she continued to lead all administrative and office management endeavors, including being a part of the WDF Headquarters design and build.

 

Beyond her professional expertise, Clodagh has a deep passion for the arts. A trained opera singer, she holds both a Bachelor of Music (Voice Performance) from Western University in London, Ontario, and a Master of Music (Voice Performance) from the University of Toronto. Clodagh’s blend of operational excellence, leadership, and artistic passion makes her a unique asset to Song United as she helps drive both operational success and organizational culture.

Wonwoo Lee

Wonwoo Lee serves as the Managing Director of Real Estate for Song United. He is also an adjunct practice instructor at the University of Michigan, teaching fundamentals of real estate development in the Taubman College of Architecture and Urban Planning. Wonwoo currently serves as the Chairperson and Commissioner on the City of Ann Arbor’s planning commission and serves on the transportation commission as well as chairing Ann Arbor's Comprehensive Plan subcommittee. He previously served as Chief Real Estate Officer for Oxford Companies, a full-scale real estate services group managing over $500MM in assets in the greater Ann Arbor region.

 

Wonwoo was named Crain’s Detroit’s Forty under Forty 2023 and inducted into the Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame for Midwest REJournals. He has completed approximately $700MM in commercial real estate transactions throughout his career.

 

Wonwoo holds a Master of Urban Planning (M.U.P. 2013) and Bachelor of Arts (B.A. 2011) from the University of Michigan. He additionally holds a Graduate Certificate in Real Estate Development from the University of Michigan and an Executive Education Certificate in Negotiations from Harvard Business School.

Skylar Bennethum

Skylar Bennethum manages private investments at Song United with a focus on early-stage technology companies and venture capital funds. Along with sourcing and evaluating new investment opportunities Skylar works closely with other family offices and investors to help support the startup ecosystem in Michigan. Prior to Song United Skylar was a Principal at Hibiscus Capital Management, a multi-stage venture capital firm formed from the Barer Family Office. Skylar is also the Founder of Bluprint Ventures, a consulting company that specializes in family office advisory with a focus on venture capital and private equity investments.


Skylar attended Central Michigan University where he received a Masters in Entrepreneurial Transactions and a BA in Entrepreneurship and Finance.

Lee Pennington

Lee is the Senior Program Manager for the Song Foundation. Lee is a people-first innovator and team builder with exceptional planning, organizational, research and critical thinking skills. They are inspired by leaders challenging the status quo of individualistic work practices in favor of collective care. Lee is passionate about the City of Detroit and is driven by work that amplifies the power of native Detroiters.

Their past experience includes supporting the launch and expansion of first time business owners in consulting, contracting and hospitality by providing project management, administrative, social media and event planning support. Prior to the Foundation they were Senior Project Manager at Glidepath Strategies, a boutique consulting firm specializing in non-profit management. Lee also has an extensive background in care work, both in educational facilities and private homes. They graduated from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology.

Lamar Weir

Born and raised in Detroit, Lamar Weir is a dedicated professional with a diverse education, policy, and workforce development background. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Michigan and a Master of Education from American University. With experience across nonprofits, government agencies, and school districts in Michigan, North Carolina, and Florida, Lamar has developed expertise in various sectors.


His career includes roles at Song United, Detroit Public Schools Community District, US House of Representatives, the Yunion, and Teach for America. Lamar’s commitment to the intersection of education, policy, and community drives his work at the Song Foundation, where he contributes to transformational change in Detroit and Southeastern Michigan. Outside the office, Lamar enjoys visiting local libraries and playing tennis, balancing his professional pursuits with personal interests.

Greg Shewchuk

Greg Shewchuk serves as Creative Director for Song United, providing visualization, design, identity, and narrative development across projects. With a background in interactive production and filmmaking, his award-winning work has taken him across the country and around the world.


His past credits include writing, directing, and producing for Disney, content marketing and web development for major motion pictures (Being John Malkovich, Mean Girls, Team America, Jackass), and in-house roles in software and infotech startups. He spent 10 years at the helm of The Land Of Plenty, a non-profit skateboard company encouraging artistic expression among underserved youth. He recently co-directed a three-part documentary series on tech founders in Detroit as part of independent production company A2XL. 


Newly transplanted to the Great Lakes region, when not hanging out with his family you may find him doing power slides in the snow, carefully balancing a freshly brewed cup of single-origin light roast coffee, blasting the Bounce or WCBN.
